Blog Action Day: Fight Climate Change “twogether”

This year’s Blog Action Day is focused on climate change and blogs around the world are contributing their own view on climate change and what could be done to prevent it.

As a blog on love, relationships and matchmaking, we would like to look at the effects of people living as singles vs. living in a relationship on climate change. Living “twogether” in a relationship is far more eco-friendly than living alone, so any couple living together – even without much of a green attitude – is doing more to fight climate change than a single person with the greenest intentions.

Here’s how couples contribute to the fight against climate change:

  • A shared home is more environmentally friendly than individual households. A couple requires less space than two singles, which means less building, less land claimed for residential development, less CO2 emissions from construction work.
  • Couples can save on heating, as they share a living space that only needs to be heated once. Also, don’t overrate the effect of body heat when you cuddle up in bed :) Who needs an electric blanket, when they have the one they love to keep them warm at night? Read more

It’s a truism among single women that all the best men are taken (or gay, but that’s a different matter). However, a new study on the factors that determine attraction indicates that it’s not so much the best men that are taken, but rather that the fact that men are taken makes single women thing they must be the best.

Confused? Well, the evidence the study produced is less than confusing:
184 heterosexual students, half of whom were single, participated in a study on sexual attraction and told the volunteers that a computer program would match them with an ideal partner. All the women in the study were shown the same photograph of a made-up „Mr. Right“ and all men were shown the same „Miss Perfect“. Now comes the interesting part – Read more

love email for singlesSingles mainly communicate via email with people they meet through online dating. That’s great, because email is a quick, safe and easy way of communicating. You can think carefully about what you want to say, without feeling nervous. Serious online dating agencies like be2 ensure that your privacy is protected by allowing singles to communicate through a secure internal email system.

Some singles look forward to every email and check their be2 inbox several times daily. Others are overwhelmed by the amount of emails they receive and would prefer to receive fewer emails about their online dating profile.

At be2, singles decide for themselves,, how many emails they would like to receive. You can regulate the volume of emails with just a few clicks in your be2 profile and decide if you would like to receive an email when:

  • singles want to get to know you
  • new singles register at be2 who suit your profile (you can also choose how often you want to receive these email notifiers)
  • there are special be2 offers
  • there’s a new be2 newsletter
  • be2 has a partner offer to share with you…

hubsche_frau_am_laptopMany singles choose to find a partner online because an online matchmaking agency offers such a great selection. One of the 15 million singles at be2 is bound to be a good match. However, some singles worry that, instead of being introduced to singles who really want to find a partner, they might find singles who are registered, but no longer actively using online matchmaking.

be2 is different: you will only be introduced to singles who really are active at be2 and have logged in recently. Singles who have been inactive for a while aren’t even recommended. Their names don’t show up in your list of partner recommendations until they log in again. Read more
