Love 2007: The Weddings of the Year
December is the time for reminiscing, so all this week, we’ll be taking a look at what happened in celebrity relationships in the past year. Today, let’s take a look at the happy weddings of the year 2007.
On Grey’s Anatomy, she plays a divorcee, but in real life Kate Walsh is a newlywed. We’re not sure that her real-life husband is as dreamy as her on-screen husband, but he’s not bad.
Usher and his not-so-youthful wife Tameka got tongues wagging with their called-off, postponed, delayed, but finally successful. Apparently Usher’s mother, now sadly deceased, was not a big fan of her son’s wedding with the older woman.
Eva Longoria’s French wedding to new husband Tony Parker was reported with a little too much detail. Tons of gossip magazine coverage do not make a bride any classier, no matter how big the engagement diamond!
Longoria was only topped by one celebrity wife in the media-hunger stakes this year. Liz Hurley became Arun Nayar’s wife in three ceremonies, exhaustively covered by the media. We have to give her camp cred, though, for being given away by Elton John!
Technically, two men marrying each other should be more camp than being given away by a gay singer, but the wedding of Alan Cumming was a lot more elegant than some of the more traditional weddings. Both husbands wore custom-made wedding suits.
With their combined track record, Pamela Anderson and new husband Rick Salomon should soon be making fans of celebrity sex tapes very happy.
A wedding should always be a happy occasion, but in the case of Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil, we’re not so sure. Both husband and wife have been on a downward spiral ever since their wedding and don’t seem to be influencing each other positively.
And in case you think that’s all for 2007, Eddie Murphy’s wedding is scheduled to take place before the end of the year, so stay tuned.
