Last time we told you what to do to make your first date a success. Today, we tell you what not to do if you don’t want your date to turn into a disaster.
Don’t…
- allow any distractions. Your phone should be off or muted, your eyes fixed only on your date and not on passing strangers. Giving your full attention to the person you’re with is not only polite, but in your best interest. After all, you want to find out if you can see yourself in a relationship with them.
- unload your emotional baggage. Don’t talk about your ex-love, your insecurities or your problems with Tim from Accounting. If you want to moan, hire a therapist.
- get drunk. Sound obvious? And yet people get it wrong date after date.
- show off. This will make you seem arrogant or intimidating. Or both.
- be afraid to speak your mind. You need not agree with everything your date says, but disagree eloquently. Constant accord is not the stuff successful relationships are made of.
- get too physical too fast. Read all the signs right and you will know when you are both ready to go from friends to lovers.
