You want to get married? But are you even ready for marriage? In the 70s that question was a topic for comics aimed at young girls. One such comic published a quiz, to help young women find out if they’re ready for marriage. thatsmyskull found it, one Jezebel answered all the questions to see if SHE was ready for marriage. If you answer every question with “Yes”, you’re ready to say “Yes”. The questions fall into 3 categories:

ready for marriage quiz1. Some questions are pretty sensible – even if you don’t answer “Yes” to all of them, it’s probably a good idea to think about some issues like finances and commitment, before you take a vow that will change your life.
2. Some of the other questions aren’t exactly bad, but today you should probably answer them the exact other way around if you’re ready for marriage!
3. Some questions feel like they came straight from the dark ages and make the questionnaire feel more like an employment form for housekeepers.

Whatever you answer – some questions will give you pause for thought, some will make you laugh out loud and in the end it’s still up to you to decide whether you’re ready for marriage! After the jump is the scanned quiz. Read more

The Dating Ant and the Single Grasshopper

While re-reading the fable about the Ant and the Grasshopper the other day, it struck me that the fable could be applied to online dating and singles. Sounds ridiculous to apply the moral of an ancient Greek fable to modern online dating? Well, think about it:

The fable about the Ant and the Grasshopper begins at this time of year – while the weather is still beautiful and the summer is drawing to a close, the ant is busy stocking up supplies for the winter ahead. The grasshopper, however, is enjoying the weather and couldn’t be bothered thinking about the cold months ahead. As winter sets in, the ant is nice and cosy, with plenty of food to keep her going, while the grasshopper suffers cold and hunger because he didn’t prepare for the cold season.

This analogy is usually applied to hard work that pays off financially when times get tough, but applied to online dating, the lesson also rings true. Read more

If you loved playing Super Mario Bros. as a kid, these videos might take the innocence out of some fond childhood memories. Here, Mario doesn’t just save the princess – he is rewarded for his troubles.

This video by Family Guy-creator Seth Macfarlane isn’t exactly PG-rated either: less Sex (Mario doesn’t even get a kiss), but more violence. Read more

But social networks like Facebook don’t just make it easier to trace old friends, they also make it easier for your ex to trace you, whether you want to be friends or not.
